Genetic Material is an organic material containing certain forms of the viral DNA. It was produced from incubated Blacklight beings. Due to its viral nature, Alex Mercer was able to merge it with his biology to increase his health.[1]

Genetic materials consisted of high concentration of unknown viral substance. This substance was stored within Hives or Infected Water Towers which acted as incubators for Walkers and Hunters.[2]
During his search for the cure against the Blacklight virus, Alex Mercer collected samples upon Karen Parker's request. These samples were later sent to Gentek and a biological weapon was produced to kill Mercer.[3]
